About the Event
This is an introductory beginner’s course in the elementary processes of printmaking. Covering the painterly, single impression technique of Monoprinting, an approach to mark-making with the dry point method and low relief collage of card cut.
This course is a great way to learn the basics of printmaking and perfect for beginners. Be prepared to experiment and have fun!
You will:
- gain a basic understanding of modern printmaking
- learn how to transfer images onto paper during the printing process
- mix inks
- use a roller and a printing press to create your own unique prints
By the end of the course, you will have produced a variety of coloured/black and white prints. All sessions will start with a tutor demonstration, followed by student exploration and practice. There will be guided tuition throughout alongside group discussions, exchange of ideas and looking at other artist works.
Please bring:
- lots of inspiration, creativity and imagination!
- an apron and wear old clothes
- photos or images to use as inspiration
- if you have them, brushes and art materials
- foil, textured paper/cardboard/ embossed wallpaper, patterned fabric (anything that has a raised surface that will produce an intere)
Basic materials are supplied but you may wish to purchase specialist paper to print onto.
